Russian Blueszz Cattery Adoption Guide

How Our Russian Blue Kitten Adoption Process Works

We are a small TICA-registered Russian Blue cattery in New Jersey. We focus on quality over quantity, raise only a few litters each year, and take time to help each kitten move into a safe, prepared, loving home.

Before You Apply

A Thoughtful Match Matters

Our kittens are raised underfoot with daily love, playtime, handling, and normal household activity. We carefully select homes because we want every Russian Blue kitten to continue receiving the same kind of attention and stability after leaving our cattery.

When you contact us, tell us where you live, which kitten you are interested in, whether you currently have pets, the type of home the kitten will join, and whether you are planning pickup or need transportation help.

Step by Step

Our 6-Step Russian Blue Kitten Adoption Process

These steps reflect the process we use to review families, reserve kittens, prepare each kitten for homecoming, and coordinate pickup or delivery.

01

Choose a Kitten or Ask About Availability

Start with our Available Kittens page. Open the individual kitten profile to review age, gender, personality, health information, and the adoption form. If you are waiting for a future litter, contact us and tell us what you are looking for.

02

Complete the Adoption Application

Submit the application with your contact information, location, household details, current pets, preferred kitten, timing, and pickup or delivery plans. The information helps us understand the home the kitten will be joining.

03

Application Review and Conversation

We review the application and contact you to confirm availability, answer questions, discuss the kitten, and make sure the match is appropriate. This is also the time to ask about health records, travel, home preparation, or anything you want clarified before reserving.

04

Reserve Your Kitten With the $400 Adoption Deposit

A $400 adoption deposit is required to reserve an approved kitten. A kitten is not considered reserved until the deposit has been received and we have confirmed the reservation with you. Any remaining payment details are explained clearly before the next step.

05

Updates and Final Preparation

While your kitten remains with us, we stay in communication and can share photos, videos, and important updates. We continue veterinary care, socialization, litter training, scratcher training, and preparation of the kitten's records and going-home items.

06

Pickup or Delivery and Homecoming

When your kitten is ready, we confirm the final date and travel plan. Depending on your location and arrangement, you may pick up your kitten or discuss a safe delivery option. We provide the records and practical homecoming guidance needed for a smooth transition.

Required Adoption Deposit $400

When Is the $400 Deposit Required?

The deposit is requested after your application has been reviewed and your kitten is confirmed as available for you. It is the step that secures the reservation. Please do not send a deposit before we have confirmed the kitten and instructed you to proceed.

Keep your payment confirmation with your adoption records. We will also continue communicating with you after reservation so you know what to expect before pickup or delivery.

Communication After Reservation

You Stay Informed While Your Kitten Grows

Our original website has always emphasized clear communication. We are happy to provide photos and videos so families can follow their kitten's progress and feel confident about their future companion.

We also use this waiting period to confirm travel timing, answer preparation questions, and make sure you understand the feeding routine, health paperwork, and what your kitten will bring home.

Before Your Kitten Leaves

Prepared for a Healthy Start

Our Russian Blue kittens usually stay with us until they are at least 14 weeks old so they have time for development, socialization, veterinary care, and training. In some cases, a kitten may stay longer if additional time is needed.

Our original program includes early socialization, routine veterinary care, litter training, scratcher training, and a home environment where kittens are treated as part of the family. The Feline Veterinary Medical Association also recommends preparing resources and a transition space before bringing a new kitten home.

  • Full medical record
  • Microchip information
  • Core vaccinations, including Rabies when due
  • Deworming
  • FeLV and FIV testing
  • Spay or neuter surgery
  • Registration papers
  • Food samples, toys, and helpful transition supplies

Pickup and Delivery

Plan the Trip Before Adoption Day

Tell us during the application whether you plan to pick up your kitten, need delivery, or are still deciding. We use your location and timing to discuss a practical plan.

For travel, keep the kitten in a secure carrier, keep veterinary records together, maintain a comfortable temperature, and avoid unnecessary handling in unsecured areas. If you are crossing state lines, check any current destination requirements before travel.
